Take the A Train
A Train Baseball is a new website dedicated to New York baseball, from 1900 to tomorrow’s game. If you like Oscar Gamble, Cleon Jones, Strat-o-matic, real stirrups, stories about John J. McGraw, Reyes triples, Jeter professionalism, Seaver fastballs, Ruthian clouts and pinstripes in two shades – well, pull up a stool and join the conversation.
About the Editors
After covering the political beat in the Bronx as young journalists, lifelong New Yorkers Jason Chervokas and Tom Watson have been partners in a series of ill-conceived ventures since 1995, including an Internet startup, several blogs, and a rock band. This site essentially transfers their daily conversation about baseball to the web and lets others join in.
Jason Chervokas is a lifelong Yankees fan, who has worked as a newspaper reporter, media critic, journalism professor, venture capital analyst and Internet entrepreneur. He’s always on the look out for the next Don Mattingly. He is not a Sabermetrician and tends to favor his own eyes and ears.
Tom Watson has been a Mets fan since 1969, and is a journalist, entrepreneur and author who also works as a communications consultant to nonprofit organizations. His favorite all-time player is the great Cleon Jones. Tom has played a lot of Strat-O-Matic but knows you can’t build a team out of cards.
