Spring Training, 85 Years Ago

Some stunning footage via YouTube of early 1920s baseball teams training in the south (and not just Florida, the Yanks trained in New Orleans). Try to ignore the run-time markings – there’s John J. “Muggsy” McGraw giving bunting instruction, Frankie Frisch, Zack Wheat in Brooklyn’s camp, and Rogers Hornsby. Later in the clip, it’s World Series highlights and Babe Ruth.

    Love that footage of John McGraw hitting grounders to the infield...could be any schlubby pot believed manager from any era!
