There’s a quixotic movement afoot of Yankee (and preservation-minded Mets fans) to somehow save Gate 2 from the real Yankee Stadium, now being demolished on East 16st Street. This group of fans has attended public hearings, networked online and posted several videos of how a preserved Gate 2 structure could be incorporated into the new city park that will take the place of the House That Ruth Built. Here’s one of those videos – and although I can’t see the cold hearts of Bloomberg & Co. (which, after all, decided to tear down a national treasure) going for this, the scheme does have some appeal.
